This tool is already in use for handling financial transactions, insurance identification, medical information storage, and measurement of customer loyalty and frequency. Several multifamily dwellings in the US have already started using this card, particularly in such functions as access security, facilities use privileges and monetary transactions. However, more innovations with the smart card are being anticipated in the industry. Oakcrest Apartments is one of the dwellings that are already using the card to their advantage. This 250-unit master apartment planned community in California is already using it for its laundry room, controlled access, vending machines and office equipment.
